Agriculture
Advanced Animal Care
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Introduction to Agriculture
In this class students will explore animal care in an in-depth manner. Students will learn about care of equine, livestock and companion animals. This will prepare students for a career, or a hobby in animal care.
Agriculture Business and Leadership
Course length: Year Course
Requirement for Class: Introduction to Agriculture, Welding I, Intro to Greenhouse, or Aquaculture.
Students will participate in many skill building and leadership activities. This class will explore business and marketing, sales and services, as well as parliamentary procedures and issues facing us everyday. This class is good for any student interested in any career since leadership and business skills are necessary in all industries.
Introduction to Agriculture
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Open to sophomore students.
Hands on class where students explore animal science, plant science and horticulture, welding farm machinery and leadership.
Introduction to Greenhouse and Plant Technology
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: None
This is a beginning course in horticulture. Units covered include: landscape design, greenhouse management, floriculture, plant science and plant propagation.
Interior/Exterior Design
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Introduction to Agriculture or Introduction to Greenhouse
This class will explore design principles and concepts. Students will learn interior design, floral design, landscape design, pond building and aqua-scaping. This will prepare students for a career in interior design, landscape design, floral design, and many others.
Pitmaster BBQ
Course length: Semester
Requirements for Class: Open to Juniors and Seniors.
This course will teach students about all things barbeque including: History, meat selection and identification, barbeques, rubs, sauces, marinades, catering, breakeven pricing, food safety, and preparing the meat. Students will have the opportunity to receive their food handlers card.
Art Classes
Art I
Course length: Semester
Requirements for Class: $10.00
Course will emphasize learning the basic elements and principles of design and basic drawing skills. Course will cover western history of art. Students will work with a variety of black and white drawing mediums; pencil, charcoal, ink and sandblasting. Students will learn a variety of drawing techniques, shading and basic graphic design.
Art II
Course length: Year Course
Course Fee: $20.00
Requirements for Class: Art I with a C or better.
Course will offer more of a fine art approach to color theory and techniques. History of western art will be explored. Students will work with watercolor, chalk pastels, colored pencil, oil pastels, acrylics and ceramics. Techniques for landscape and portrait. Students will learn techniques to landscape, and portrait painting.
Art III
Course length: Year Course
Course Fee: $25.00
Requirements for Class: Art I, Art II with a C or better.
Course will offer a commercial approach to art. Advertisement, modern and postmodern art history will be covered. Projects will include graphic design, scratchboard, printmaking, airbrush, industrial logo design, stained glass or sandblasting, community/school projects and pottery wheel.
Art IV
Course length: Year Course
Course Fee: $25.00
Requirements for Class: Art I, Art II, Art III with a C or better.
Course will expand student’s individual interest in techniques, subject matter, and mediums. This course offers structure and guidance while allowing the students to explore their interests. Non-western art history will be explored. Projects will include oil painting, sculpture, portfolio development, a student college/career focus.
Ceramics I
Course length: Semester
Course Fee: $25.00
Requirements for Class: Art I Recommended.
This course will introduce students to principles of working with clay. The class will include hand-building methods, wheel throwing and decoration/glazing techniques. Students will also be exposed to Art history, vocabulary and Art appreciation.
Ceramics II
Course length: Semester
Course Fee: $25.00
Requirements for Class: Art I Recommended.
This course will introduce students to advanced principles of working with clay, wheel throwing and glazing techniques.
Automative Technology
Auto Tech I
Course length:Semester
Requirements for Class: Pre-Algebra and one year of science. Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
An introduction to auto mechanics/safety aligned with Lithia Automotive training curriculum. The course will feature guest lectures from Lithia Automotive Technicians and Service Managers.
Auto Tech II
Course length: Semester
Requirements for Class: Auto Tech I. Open to juniors and seniors.
Students will further their knowledge of basic systems found in today’s vehicles, practice basic shop tasks, and service vehicles to gain an understanding of the theory and the principles of vehicles.
