Advanced Computers
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Computer Applications
Students may work independently on their choice of the following classes: Keyboard Skill-building, Advanced Word Processing Applications, Advanced Spreadsheets, Advanced Database, Advanced Presentations, Web Page Design, FrontPage, HTML Programming, Javascript Programming, Flash, or Desktop Publishing. 2+2 credit is available.
Marketing
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Computer Applications and Introduction to business.
Provide further study of business organizations and management the 4 P’s of Marketing: Product, Placement, Price and Promotion. Students will create and run a business for at least 5 weeks. This course will also help students prepare for DECA competitions.
Virtual Enterprise
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Open to Seniors.
This class may substitute for Personal Finance/Economics. A Virtual Enterprise is a simulated business that is set up and run by students to prepare them for working in a real business environment. Students determine the nature of their business, its products and services, its management and structure, and engage in the daily operations of running a business. Emphasis is placed on using current business software, communications, and the Internet for business transactions with other school in the Virtual Enterprise network.
Multimedia
Course length: Semester
Course Fee Required.
Requirement for Class: Computer Applications
Hands-on course using a variety of popular multimedia software including Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and Macromedia Flash. Students will create a brochure, newsletters, travel presentation, manipulate photographs and design and create computer animations.
Web Page Design
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Computer Applications
Students will design and create web pages that are attractive, easy to navigate, load in reasonalbe time, and incorporate frames, links, anchors, graphics, buttons, banners, and animations. Students will learn to use the Dreamweaver Suite software, which includes Dream weaver, Flash, Fireworks, and Freehand to create their web pages. 2+2 credit is available.
Child Developement
Child Development I
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Parent/guardian permission to leave campus.
If you are interested in working with children, this course will give students a greater sight into the development and behavior of the preschool and toddler child.
Child Development II
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Child Development I and Parent/guardian permission to leave campus.
This course will continue where child development I left off. The course will focus on the development of the unborn child through the toddler phase. Students will be placed at Phoenix Elementary School to get additional experience working with kindergarten through sixth grade students.
Child Development III
Course length: Semester
Requirement for Class: Child Development II and Parent/Guardian permission to leave campus.
Come and learn how to work with students who have special needs. Students will participate in local field trips. At the end of the semester you will travel to Portland to visit the Providence Child Center and Dornbecker.
